Blastaa

Follow him on: YouTube and Instagram

Background: Blastaa started FPV a little over a year ago after owning a DJI photo drone and exploring the FPV rabbit hole on YouTube. He initially began with freestyle and competed in IGOW4 as a fun way to learn. Recently, since fall 2023, he has ventured into racing and has been loving the new challenge.

Achievements:

  • IGOW4: 11th place
  • Racegow2: Top 15
  • VRL Season 10: 4th place overall with Team Crimson Cataclysm
  • MultiGP 2024 Global Qualifier: Top 200
  • TPW: Team pilot

Favorite Tricks: Blastaa enjoys almost all tricks except the Barani.

Training Regime: Living in NYC, outdoor practice can be challenging, so Blastaa usually heads to NJ for some real-life practice. He spends about 5 hours a week in the simulator and a few hours on weekends practicing in real life, focusing mostly on racing with some freestyle. When learning a new trick, he breaks it down into parts, mastering each piece before putting it all together. Although starting in the simulator helps, he finds that the physics are often different enough to require additional practice to translate skills into real-life flying.

Overcoming Challenges: Blastaa emphasizes the importance of pushing oneself to try new, challenging things to improve. He advises beginners to join as many competitions, events, and races as possible, even if they feel they aren’t good enough. The experience gained is invaluable. He travels an average of 3 hours for races and believes it’s 100% worth it. Remember, everyone starts somewhere, and the best pilots have crashed the most. Don’t be afraid to crash and keep pushing yourself.

Equipment: Blastaa flies with a Radiomaster Boxer radio and relies on HDZero goggles with a TBS Fusion module for his FPV feed.
