Air65 BNF

The BETAFPV Air65 is an ultra-lightweight brushless whoop weighing just 17.1g that was designed for high-speed racing and smooth freestyle flying. Equipped with a responsive flight controller and paired with BETAFPV’s 300mAh LAVA LiPo Batteries, it offers impressive agility with extended flight times, making it an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced pilots in a compact form. This is one of the best BNFs on the market and it’s an absolute blast to fly.

Price: $94.99

Where to buy it: BetaFPV

Pros
  • It’s once of the cheapest whoops on the market at $95
  • Lightweight at 17.1g.
  • Easy to fly
  • The Freestyle Edition motor speed is well-suited for beginners.
  • Offers a great flying experience for beginners
Cons
  • The motors are directly soldered to the FC, meaning you’ll need to know how to solder to replace any damaged ones. Soldering is a skill that every serious pilot should learn how to do sooner rather than later.
  • The U.FL antenna connector can come loose and fall off during crashes. Adding a dab of Welders Glue or E6000 on the side of the connector helps secure it and prevent it from detaching.
  • The Air Canopy is prone to breaking in the back
Here it is in action!

The Air65 comes with two motor speed options: the 23,000KV Freestyle Edition and the 27,000KV Racing Edition. If you’re just starting out, the 23,000KV will be the better pick since it will provide a more manageable flying speed while you build your skills. For experienced pilots who crave more speed, the 27,000KV will be more your style. Just remember, higher KV motors typically result in slightly shorter flight times – usually around a 30-second difference, give or take.

Upgrade Options

  1. Canopy – As previously mentioned, one of the cons of this build is the Air Canopy. It’s not the most durable, so it will probably break within a couple of weeks of flying. Here’s my recommendation for upgrading this part:
    • 1. The durable option: The original Mobula 6 Canopy with the Tokyo Dom Cam Holder. This combo weighs around 1.1g, which will add a little weight, but its offers a TON of durability, which will help prevent parts from breaking during crashes.
    • 2. The lightweight option: The Bike Guy Cam Mount V2 weighs just 0.4g and is designed to offer decent durability during crashes. Although I’ve only recently started testing it, many top racers highly recommend it.
  2. Motors – If you start to crave more speed, then I would recommend upgrading your motors with either weBLEEDfpv or Tiny Whoop 0702 motors

Important Note

Make sure that your Air Canopy is NOT touching the U.FL (video antenna). The section of the Air Canopy that is next to the U.FL should be snipped to prevent the canopy from breaking off the U.FL during a crash. If it is not already snipped off, then make sure to do so!!
