Hummingbird: RaceSpec
NewBeeDrone has raised the bar with the release of their new Hummingbird RaceSpec BNF! Weighing an incredible 16.5g, it’s currently the lightest BNF on the market—and it’s an absolute rocket.
From the moment you arm it, you can feel just how lightweight and responsive it is. It’s fast, agile, and an absolute blast to fly. What really sets it apart is the use of enamel-wired motors—something I’ve never seen on a brushless BNF before. This whoop is built to dominate the race scene and claim its spot on the podium.
Price: $89.99
Where to buy it: NewBeeDrone
Pros
- One of the cheapest whoops on the market at $89.99
- Super lightweight at 16.5g.
- VERY fast and responsive
- Offers 30,000kv motors with enamel wires to save weight
- NBD finally upgraded their pigtails to an A30 connector
Cons
- This BNF is designed for pros, so repairing it is more difficult than standard BNFs.
- The motors are directly soldered to the FC, meaning you’ll need to know how to solder to replace any damaged ones. Enamel wires are more difficult to solder than normal motor wires. Each pad uses a pair of wires and you can burn a motor if you accidentally mix up the pairs. Soldering is a skill that every serious pilot should learn how to do sooner rather than later.
- The camera mount provides no impact protection, allowing the camera to press directly against the flight controller. This significantly raises the risk of VTX damage during crashes.

Upgrade Options
- Canopy – As mentioned earlier, one drawback of this build is the canopy. It doesn’t provide sufficient protection to prevent the camera from impacting the flight controller during crashes, which could potentially break the flight controller. Here’s my recommendations for upgrading the stock canopy:
- 1. The durable option: The original Mobula 6 Canopy with the Tokyo Dom Cam Holder. This combo weighs around 1.1g, which will add a little weight, but its offers a TON of durability, which will help prevent parts from breaking during crashes.
- 2. The lightweight option: The Bike Guy Cam Mount V2 weighs just 0.4g and is designed to offer decent durability during crashes. Although I’ve only recently started testing it, many top racers highly recommend it.
- Camera – I’m personally not the biggest fan of the BeeEye, so if you would like to upgrade, than I would consider the BetaFPV C03 Camera.
- Props – In the past, I have found the Azi’s to be pretty fragile, but surprisingly the Azi’s that come with the RaceSpec are holding up VERY well and I haven’t broke any of them yet. If you’re interested in upgrading the props, then I would consider checking out the Gemfan 1219S 31mm triblade props.
Important Note
Seriously, I HIGHLY recommend switching out your canopy so you don’t break your flight controller within a few flights
