Mentor of the Week
Blastaa is one of our dedicated Pro Whooper team pilots and mentors. He began his journey a little over a year ago after diving headfirst into an FPV rabbithole on YouTube. Initially drawn to freestyle, he used IGOW4 as a fun way to learn and quickly fell in love with the hobby.
Since the fall of 2023, Blastaa has taken on the challenge of racing, a new passion that he has been thoroughly enjoying. His hard work and dedication to the hobby have earned him several impressive achievements, including 11th place in IGOW4, a top 15 finish in Racegow2, 4th place overall in VRL Season 10 with Team Crimson Cataclysm, and a top 200 ranking in the MultiGP 2024 Global Qualifier.
As a mentor, Blastaa has been invaluable in helping build up the whoop community. His dedication to the community and his willingness to share his knowledge and experience makes him a fantastic mentor. Whether you’re into racing or freestyle, Blastaa’s insights and support are sure to help you improve your skills and enjoy the thrill of flying.

Mentor Groups
Mentors are available to review your video clips or submissions and provide personalized feedback and advice upon request. Reach out for help with tricks, general advice, equipment recommendations, technical troubleshooting, or to learn from their personal experiences. Mentors will change groups every week, allowing you to receive different perspectives and advice. We’re here to support you every step of the way!
If you signed up to join one of our mentor’s groups on the registration form, you will automatically be assigned to one of five groups to be mentored. Click here to find out which group you’re in, and use “Control + F” to search for your name. Once you know your group, head over to Discord and open the “⭐︱mentor-group-assigner” channel. Click the emoji that represents your mentor group to be automatically assigned and gain access to your group chat.
Trick Tutorials
This week, we’ll be learning how to perform Flips, Rolls, Yaw Spins, Vanny Rolls, and Inverted Yaw Spins. Watch the challenge video above for the full step by step tutorial!
Challenge Objectives
To complete the challenge, you’ll need to successfully accomplish all the main objectives listed below. Each objective is designed to help you refine your skills and improve your control
- Task 1: Perform a Flip in both directions in the same clip
- Task 2: Perform a Roll in both directions in the same clip
- Task 3: Perform a Yaw Spin in both Directions in the same clip
- Optional Bonus Challenge: This challenge is optional. This week, you can earn bonus points by combining a yaw spin with a roll to create a Vanny Roll. The Bonus Challenge is an excellent way to learn how to combine these fundamental tricks to create new ones, while also boosting your leaderboard score.
- Optional Blastaa’s Challenge: Perform an Inverted Yaw Spin. It sounds intimidating, but don’t worry—just throttle up high into the sky to give yourself plenty of time to go inverted and complete the yaw spin before you reach the ground. Successfully pulling off this move will enter you into a prize pool for a chance to win up to $100 PayPal cash prizes. So, get up there and spin to win!
- Optional Pilot of the Week: This week, our judges will be voting on best use of environment to determine who will become our NewBeeDrone Pilot of the Week for Lesson 2. Tune in to the Pro Whooper Show on August 14th to see who will win the title, receive a $40 NBD Gift Card, bonus leaderboard points, and be featured on ProWhooper.com!
Best use of environment means making the most of your surroundings by performing tricks on various obstacles in your area. For example, at a playground, you could powerloop a bench, chase a dog, roll through the swings, disarm and go down the slide, or orbit a tree. The more variety you bring to your video, the better your chances of winning Pilot of the Week.
Leaderboard Points:
Earning Leaderboard points can earn you one of the top 3 prizes for the program, with the 1st place consisting of a $400 package. Here’s a few ways to earn some points:
- Passing the Lesson: 100
- Completing the Bonus Challenge: +20
- Using the Boot Camp 101 logo at the start of your video: +10
- Winning the Most Creative video of the week: +20
- Winning the Best use of Environment: +20
- Top Pilots of the Week: +30-50
Video Requirements
- Deadline: Saturday, August 10th at 9am PST, or 5pm GMT
- Time Limit: 60 seconds. This is the maximum time limit for the entire video, from start to finish. However, if you include the Boot Camp logo at the beginning, you can extend your video to 65 seconds total.
- Objectives: Please note that while each main objective must be completed in a single clip, you don’t need to combine all objectives into one continuous clip. However, it’s an added challenge to combine as many objectives into a single clip as possible, making it even more impressive to watch.
- Passing the Challenge: To pass the challenge, you must complete all 3 main objectives. You do not need to participate in the bonus or cash objective.
