The Champion

Bantz

Bantz has been flying drones for about a year and a half. His interest in drones began when he set up a DJI Mini 3 Pro for his dad and flew it himself. While he found it fun, he wished the drone could do flips and other tricks. This curiosity led him to build a 5-inch drone as his first FPV project.

During the TPW series, Bantz expanded his skill set by learning new tricks, including some that were created by Shauny D. His favorite tricks to perform are the Split-S, Powerloop, and Power Switch, all of which showcase his impressive control and speed. His preferred build is a 65mm drone with TW Pinch and 29kv 0702 motors, providing him with the agility and power needed for his dynamic flying style. His achievements in the TPW series are remarkable, setting the record for the highest average score and earning a total of 104,525 points.

Looking ahead, Bantz plans to spend the summer ripping his 5-inch drone. He has set a simple yet ambitious goal: to “rip harder.” While he prefers to keep his whoop flights indoors, he is eager to continue pushing his limits with outdoor freestyle flying using his 5-inch drone.

Bantz’s rapid progression from a novice to a top-tier pilot in just a year and a half highlights his dedication and passion for FPV flying. His achievements in the TPW series have rightfully earned him the title of the TPW Season 1 Champion.

The Whooper Winner

SWEEMTUBEFPV

SWEEMTUBEFPV’s journey into the world of drones began in 2015 when he watched his cousin fly a 10-inch drone. This sparked a deep interest, leading him to watch countless YouTube videos. His fascination grew with the Drone Racing League (DRL) and a Star Wars-like video of 5-inch drones racing through a forest.

In 2017, SWEEMTUBEFPV bought his first line-of-sight drone kit from Walmart, though it broke shortly after. Undeterred, he purchased his first 5-inch FPV kit and whoop in 2018. By 2022, he was ripping whoops and taking his freestyle skills to the next level

SWEEMTUBEFPV truly shined in the TPW series. He consistently impressed with his ability to master new tricks, quickly becoming a standout competitor. His favorite tricks, the trippy spin, powerloop, and Rubik’s cube, demonstrated his dynamic and creative flying style. His Beast Whoop V2, with its ideal mix of power and agility, was his go-to setup for this competition.

Looking ahead, SWEEMTUBEFPV has an exciting summer planned. He aims to compete at the West Coast Throwdown and spend ample time flying at the NWFPVPark. His focus is on continuing to grow as a pilot and securing sponsorship, a testament to his dedication and ambition within the FPV community.

From a fascinated onlooker to a skilled pilot, SWEEMTUBEFPV’s journey exemplifies dedication and passion, earning him the prestigious title of Whooper Winner.

Rookie of the Year

Cicada79

Cicada79’s drone flying journey began nearly three years ago after being inspired by a Rotor Riot video featuring Vanover chasing an arrow. Throughout the TPW competition, he demonstrated significant growth, adding new tricks to his repertoire. His favorite tricks, the half matty, trippy spin, and juicy flicks, showcase his creativity and enthusiasm to learn. Cicada79’s preferred setup includes a 75 fractal whoop with Mobula7 v4 ducts and 802 27k motors, powered by a 300mah battery, which allows him to execute his signature tricks with precision. For his 5” build, he favors the Armattan Beaver, which complements his versatile flying style.

Looking ahead, Cicada79 is enthusiastic about the future and ready to embrace any new FPV projects or events that come his way this summer. One of his primary goals is to see his son, rip-pup, thrive in the FPV scene, although he humorously adds that his current aim is to stay ahead of rip-pup in skills. Cicada79’s dedication and talent have earned him the well-deserved title of Rookie of the Year, marking just the beginning of his promising journey in the FPV world.
