I’m currently testing a fun new custom build featuring the Hummingbird V3.1 AIO flight controller. So far, it’s showing promise with a clear video feed and smooth handling. The lightweight frame keeps the total weight down, enhancing agility and responsiveness. Additionally, the build gives me around 2:15 of nonstop flight time on PH2.0. I’ll provide more updates as I continue to test and refine this build. Stay tuned!

Watch it in action!

Flight Controller

NewBeeDrone – Hummingbird V3.1 AIO

I’ve recently started using the Hummingbird V3.1, and it’s been performing exceptionally well so far. The video feed is consistently clear, and it flies pretty smoothly. Its lightweight design is a great feature, making it easy to achieve a sub-18g build. If you’re searching for a reliable and efficient flight controller that won’t add unnecessary weight, the Hummingbird V3.1 is an excellent choice.

Frame

NewBeeDrone – LiteAF

The LiteAF frame in this custom build is remarkably lightweight at just 2.40 grams, making it 0.28 grams lighter than the Meteor65 Air frame. While its minimal weight is beneficial for speed and responsiveness, further testing is needed to assess its overall durability and performance. I’ll provide more updates as I continue to test and evaluate this component.

Whenever I inevitably break a plastic frame, I typically repair the broken ducts with welders glue, ensuring that spot remains sturdy and intact. Overall, it’s a pretty good frame!

Motors

NewBeeDrone – 0702 Flow 29,000kv

I’m using NewBeeDrone’s 0702 29k Flow motors and they’ve been good so far, offering good power and responsiveness considering their small size.

Props

Gemfan 31mm triblades – 1219s

These 31mm tri-blade props are impressively lightweight, weighing even less than the Gemfan bi-blades. Despite their small size, they deliver excellent performance and remarkable durability.

Camera

NewBeeDrone – BeeEye

This camera provides a wider lens compared to most, all while maintaining a lightweight design. It’s an excellent choice for both freestyle flying and racing.

Camera Mount

RAB FPV 3D Printed Canopy

This camera mount is worth the weight. While I use 30°, this mount has multiple adjustment angles that range from 25 to 45°. It’s highly durable due to the TPU that it’s printed with and has never broke. Just make sure to place some thick double sided tape under the camera to prevent contact with the FC when crashing.

Lipo

NewBeeDrone – Nitro Nectar Gold Power Package 300mah

I’ve been using the Nitro Nectar Gold 300mAh 1S HV LiPo batteries with PH2.0 connectors, and they’ve actually been much better than expected. While I usually prefer BT2.0 connectors, these PH2.0 lipos have been holding up well and providing consistent power. They’ve definitely exceeded my initial expectations for ph2.0 lips.
